Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Breast cancer is the irregular growth lining the breast lobules or ducts. These cells frenziedly grow and have the prospective to spread. It is common in women and is uncommon in men. Transwomen, transgender non-binary people, and gender-diverse people can also get breast cancer. A transgender woman taking medication to reduce male hormones and boost female hormones may have an enhanced risk of developing breast cancer. The breast cancer treatment in Gurgaon wants to stage the cancer properly and curb its growth at the earliest. Doctors usually remove the growth or the whole breast to stop the spread of the cancer cells to other body parts.

Common causes of breast cancer

Research shows there are quite a few risk factors that may augment your chances of developing breast cancer. These comprise:

  • Family history: If your siblings, parents, children or other close relatives have breast cancer, you are at risk of developing the disease.
  • Age: Being 55 or older
  • Smoking: Tobacco use has been associated with many different types of cancer, including breast cancer
  • Genetics: Up to 15% of people with breast cancer develop the disease because they have inherited genetic mutations. The most common genetic mutations entail the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.
  • Drinking beverages containing alcohol: Research shows that drinking beverages containing alcohol may augment breast cancer risk
  • Having obesity
  • Hormone replacement therapy: People using HRT have a higher risk of this condition.

Symptoms of breast cancer

The condition can affect your breasts in different ways. Some breast cancer symptoms are very distinctive. Others may just seem like areas of your breast that look very different from any other area. Breast cancer might not cause visible symptoms either. But when it does, symptoms may include:

  • A mass or lump, which may feel as small as a pea.
  • A change in the size or shape of your breast.
  • A change in the look or feel of your skin on your breast or nipple. Your skin may look puckered, dimpled, scaly or inflamed. It may look red, purple or darker than other parts of your breast.
  • A lump near your breast or in your underarm.
  • A blood-stained or clear fluid discharge from your nipple.
  • A marble-like hardened area under your skin.

After recognizing the cancer cells, the doctors will grade them. Grades are allotted based on how big the tumor is and whether it has spread to the adjacent lymph nodes and other organs apart from the breast. Breast cancer treatment will depend on the stage of cancer.

Reduce breast cancer risk with early detection and prevention

Early detection is essential, and so is decreasing the risk. Several healthy lifestyle choices are there that you can make to decrease your risk of breast cancer.

  • Stay lean after menopause. Keep a healthy weight and a reduced amount of body fat. Eating a healthy diet can help.
  • Stay active. Moderate or vigorous physical activity can help.
  • Breastfeed. Breastfeed completely for six months after giving birth, and carry on even when your baby is starting with other foods.
  • Get regular breast cancer screening done. Screening can identify cancer early, when it’s easiest to treat.

Breast cancer treatment

Different breast cancer treatment options are there for patients, some of which are as follows:

  • Radiation therapy: It uses high-energy X-rays to destroy the cancer cells and stop them from growing.
  • Surgery: Most people with breast cancer diagnosis will go through surgery to remove the tumor. If the tumor is small, doctors recommend breast-conserving surgery to remove only cancer and some normal tissues near it. If it is big, the doctors will suggest radical, modified, or total removal of the breast (mastectomy).
  •  Hormone or endocrine therapy: Its focus is to stop tumors’ growth by blocking the ability of the body to generate hormones. This will hinder the action of hormones on the cancer cells of the breast.
  • Chemotherapy: This is the most popular breast cancer treatment in Gurgaon and other major cities. In this treatment option, medicines help to stop the growth of the cancer cells.
  • Immunotherapy: It triggers the immune system of the body to fight cancer cells.

FAQ: Does breast cancer hurt?

Although breast cancer can be painful at times, it does not always cause pain. The patient might notice discomfort and pain in the nipples and breasts, but these symptoms are frequently caused by other health conditions, even the monthly menstrual cycle. Sudden pain is also related to some benign breast conditions, such as cysts and mastitis.

Bottom Line:

Breast cancer treatment in Gurgaon also focuses on palliative care and on mental reassurance of the

client who is in fear and skepticism after a cancer diagnosis. The health care team is available at all times to support the clients all through the treatment and render all the care to deal with the condition holistically.
